    Notes The nephew, disciple and protégé of Nikousios Panagiotis was hired as an apprentice interpreter in 1665, alongside the resident envoy of Constantinople. In 1667 he continued his studies in Vienna and in 1668, after passing the examinations, he was admitted to the profession of interpreter. He served at the Habsburg delegation in Constantinople and was in the city during the Great Turkish War, spying for the War Council.
