| References | According to a report of the Austrian ambassador to Constantinople, Hugo von Virmont, dated 29 January 1720, Vincezo was born in Chios where his father was the Dutch consul. When the (Habsburg) merchants needed a dolmetscher to take care of their commercial matters on the island, Virmont recommended Moroni's appointment to the Ottoman court. According to the entry no. 148 in the Nemçe Ahid Defter no. 57, the Ottoman court issued a berat for Moroni to take up this duty. |
